Antisemitism

Antisemitism remains a problem in the NUS

Following the publication of the Tuck Report 2 years ago, the NUS committed to considerable reform to wipe out the antisemitism that plagued the organisation. Despite this, as recent events at the 2024 NUS conference show, antisemitism remains a considerable problem within the NUS, and many Jewish students do not feel safe working with NUS

Engagement

The NUS has lost the trust of the government, the Labour party and many of the organisations it needs to work with to implement change

As a matter of policy, the British Government will not work with the NUS because of its antisemitism problem. Even Labour aren't working closely with the NUS. Many in the party see the NUS as a problematic organisation that fails to accurately represent or articulate the needs of students

Representation

Because LSE is a small university, we have minimal representation at NUS conferences. This means we are forced to accept the often radical policies of students from other universities

LSE students deserve to be accurately represented, and under the current NUS model that simply isn't possible. LSE only gets to send 3 delegates to NUS conference, and despite being a world leading social sciences university our policy suggestions are silenced
